Warhammer 40k Basing Ideas Exerpiment

Hello there!

Welcome to another installment of Warhammer 40K modeling and painting! I wanted to show you all an easy way to base your models. All you have to do is save your sprues from the GW products you purchase.

You need as much straight sprue with no off-shoots on the sprue piece. You don't need to cut them into small pieces. Just wait till you start super gluing them to the base before you cut. Items needed: super glue, exacto blade, hobby snips, paint, elmers glue, bowl, and some additional basing additave (grass).

Step one is to start super gluing your sprues to your base. Try to use similar sized sprue to make it an even surface for when you go to glue your mini on the base. Give it some time to settle and dry. Once it has been about 5-10 mins after application, cut the sprue as you would like. You will have a better understanding when you see the pictures below.

Then once all of your bases are put together, take them to your spray painting station and apply either a black or brown base coat to them. Dry.... then bring them in to your modeling station. Paint the sprue what ever color you would like them to be. i chose to mix my white and black and make a grey. I wanted urban look to them.

After the paint was applied to the sprue I repainted the side of the base so I could tell each team apart and who goes with who. This is all preference obviously.

Then use some of your elmers glue and apply it in the cracks of the sprue. Do not add too much or you will just end up having a glob of green modeling grass. Use a paint brush to apply the glue between the cracks.

I then put them in a vehicle box top and went to seal them so that the grass would not fall off during transport, use, or battle. We all know how annoying that could get. Below is the finished product up close. This was just an experiment I wanted to try. I like them, but still want to experiment with other things.

Baal Predator - Primus

Hello again!

I wanted to update you on my THIRD Baal Predator. My bits from Hoard O Bits came in so I couldn't resist to finish my Baal Predator. Modeling.... waiting... ok.

Model has been put together and painting commenced. I decided to do a two tone color for the turret. We shall see if I need to do that with the hull of the tank. I think it will be a good unique look. I also decided to do some highlights and lowlights. Let me tell you.... DIFFICULT!

It looks rough right now, but we shall what it looks like after I do the final touches, washes, and matte finish it. This Baal Predator will complete my platoon of Baal Predators! 3 Baal Predators running around on the board cause havoc and killing stuff is just awesome!

Let me know how things look and any tips as usual! Hope you enjoy the post and the picture update!
